unless welcomes now for its 6th vinyl release the duet bla bla bla with an impressive 3 track ep so called prisma ep. this recently created duet are serginho and mecre, some important and respected personalities of porto city who handle for many years now the local underground scene. serginho as an old school ruler and charismatic dj and mecre already approved as an impressive studio producer wanted to deliver some musical works. prisma ep starts with bad disco on a side which uses samples of old classic house tracks as a tribute to house music at the beginning of the 90s. mayfield the first track on the b side evokes some tribal feelings with deep textures and some actual techno dub also. finally the second track of the bside is rom a tech house track building its drum pattern on a massive bass line

the third and final installment of spectral sounds document 12inch series offers four choice cuts from our era-defining, ryan elliott-curated label comp. kassem mosses remix of lawrences >divided< is a fiendishly tight slow-burner, fitting its ricky-ticky hi-hats and sharp-edged snares together like cogs in a swiss watch. the german producer twists parts around, testing various permutations, and rewards his patient listeners with a dusting of synthesized bliss at the end. heiroglyphic beings rust-flecked >got no place to go< traffics in humid ambience and smoggy gestures, evoking a post-apocalyptic dawn, distant bird calls and all. on the flip, spectral newcomer gadi mizrahis masterful >she only looks at you< hints at krautrock and tech-house while a thoughtful organ hums in the background, and kate simkos buoyant >zhivago< plays ping-pong with a bucket of electronic toms while a crowd-revving synth swell makes itself useful at just the right moment.

few artists can lay claim to such a continuous output as bpc resident joakim ijäs, better known as kiki. for kiki, continuity also means permanently developing his musical vision - his superb second album kaiku is testament to this. the current 12 inch >cinema obscura< follows on seamlessly from us house traditions, yet also reduces them to absurdity with its atmospheric density and sonic extravagance.

finally, the live virtuoso olene kadar is back again with release #4 on his homebase mos ferry! not only the really massive kick makes the a-side >deal< a true stomper, that might put a smile on every detroit fans face also a guy called gerald would be thrilled! kadar uses common sounds and styles to stack his own unconventional sound-building - his own >house<. driving is probably the adjective that can express most accurately what constitutes the eight and a half minutes track with its funky organ chords. the b-side >sot:2< contains an equally virtuoso ass-shaker. somewhere between industrial aesthetics of the reverberated snare and the indefinable squawking sound its elements combine into a multi-dimensional piece of >club therapy< full of extremes. the unity of groovy kick and bass constitutes a high contrast to the vast extending percussion that moves at times in dramatic and absurd dimensions. approaching the drop, the almost out of control snare rolls and percussion drown any crowd in their own sweat dripping from the ceiling.

hailing from leipzig in germany is an artist whos music has been pricking up many ears across the global underground over the last few years. its hard to put a finger on what it is about kassem mosses productions that make repeated listening a must, but the intricacy, fresh arrangements and musical depth definitely play a part in attracting labels such as the highly respected techno imprint workshop, the legendary soma records and now nonplus are honoured to present his latest 12 inch. a) kassem mosse – >we speak to those< first up on the a-side we have >we speak to those< a 4/4 track of the highest quality that keeps you guessing from start to finish. the rugged and raw kick and bassline immediately set the foundations for the incoming awkward chord stabs whilst reversed beats lazily slur in and out over the main groove giving the track the unnerving feeling that its almost changing tempo. random sound effects and a non conforming arrangement make this track about as predictable as the english summer. one listen to this and youll immediately understand why this artist is getting love from some of the scenes biggest players at the moment. aa) kassem mosse – >hi res< phased drum machine breakbeat patterns and stutered percussion redolent of the early detroit techno uprising give this track an outstanding quality of being able to conjure up the same feelings of hope and optimism for electronic music that the aforementioned era managed to. thought provoking chord progressions take your mind on an excursion to the future and leave you gagging for an extended trip. think skyways, flying cars and towering metal buildings footed with dark abysmal underworlds and youll get the drift. they don t come much deeper than this one

michigan central station built in 1913 for the michigan central railroad, was detroit, michigans passenger rail depot from its opening in 1913 until the discontinuance of amtrak service on january 6, 1988. at the time of its construction, it was the tallest rail station in the world. the building, located in the corktown district of detroit still stands today, though it remains unoccupied. restoration projects and plans have gone as far as the negotiation process, but none have come to fruition. spread throughout the city of detroit and its surrounding metropolitan area, the decay of once magnificent buildings during the industrial revolution and automobile era now cast a shadow of despair on a once flourishing city. these monuments of achievement now lay barren and forsaken by city government. infrastructural restoration and city development are fundamental elements in detroits recovery, and the recovery of cities worldwide. it is time for revival in our cities, but first, in our souls. the michigan central station ep is a platform for this change.
